Performing a poem to a video camera or a live audience demands a number of skills from a young poet. Professional poets Joshua Seigal and Andy Craven Griffiths led workshops designed to help students write poems specifically for the video medium. The overall theme of the festival was "The Voice", and students explored it as a subject for their poems, and by considering different ways the voice can be used to deliver the spoken word.
For detailed guidance on how to run similar workshops in your school, please download the worksheets on the right hand side. The video clips also make useful support material, as they include examples made by the Stalham High School students, and advice from the workshop leaders.
