Palimpsest
"In this series I have explored woodland and riverside landscapes in search of intimate stories about colour, movement and space. I am fascinated by the idea of painting with light, using it to draw marks and gestures as a direct response to the mood of the moment. The technique involves long time exposures, coupled with fluid lens movements and fill in flash. There is a strong element of chance and the unexpected in the end result. The images were all created using a digital SLR camera. They are mainly unretouched, apart from occasional sharpening in Photoshop." Martin Sercombe 14.10.02
